Challenge: Compose a Card 9

Have you tried to do a wonderful Compose a Card Challenge from Becky Oehlers. This week you can use any colors and just follow the cutting parameters. The key ingredient in this recipe is "have fun". Her recipe is included here.

Hope you like my creation which is a wedding card that incorporates the homespun look of a quilt and includes a sentiment on the inside, "Marriage is the union of two souls stitched together for a lifetime of love".

Challenge: Compose a Card 8

Time is flying! Spring has sprung in our area of the country and I have spent some great days watching the wildflowers, ferns and trees grow. We had a wonderful Easter with our family. Now it is time to get on with the Challenge: Compose a Card 8 from Becky Oehlers. Join in on the fun, and listen to the tune while you create. Such a great inspiration and what fun to stretch our limits with new colors, textures and designs. Below is her recipe for the challenge:

Now for my creations that I will share with you. The first one shows a cheerful little bird who wants to sing encouragement from the circle of the card. I thought that I would give you a close-up of the bird to see his cute wings.

Have You Seen the Poppy Seed Challenge?

Hope that you have had a chance to see Lisa Johnson's Poppy Seed Challenge at her blog Poppy Paperie. She is just beginning to offer a challenge a couple of times per month. The first challenge deadline was by March 4 at 10 a.m. Even if you have not had a chance to post, read her challenge and try for the fun of it. Challenge #1: Include "three seeds". These "seeds" are simply elements in three different categories: color, embellishment and an image element. This week was to include a touch of a soft yellow, a crystal embellishment and a flower stamp. Use your creativity and what you have on hand. I have included two of my creations. I hope that you enjoy!

Spring Is In the Air

I think spring is in the air....at least here in the midwest. We have had about five wonderful days of sunshine, moderating temperatures and the sound of spring birds. I know that we will still have some cold nights and days but the majority of days should continue to reflect spring. Nichole Heady on her blog Nichole Heady.typepad.com has offered a challenge to her Design Team and other followers using different palettes of spring colors. I have chosen to include a project using her colors.

I have used the colors to create a watering can with spring blooms. My inspiration came from the cover of the March 2010 edition of Midwest Living. Although I did not have a tulip stamp, I thought that a mixture of spring flowers would do. I am including a photo of my inspiration and then my card. Truly, the them is "Celebrate Spring". Let me know what you think.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Papertrey White; Lavender Moon; Spring Moss; Lemon Tart; Hibiscus Pink; Spring Rain
Patterned Papers: Egg Hunt
Ink: Papertrey Hibiscus Pink; Spring Moss; Dark Chocolate
Ribbon: Papertrey Ink Plum Pudding
Stamps: Green Thumb; Honey Bee
Melon Wire, Crystals and Pearls from my stash

More cards from "The Lucky One"

These are two more of the cards that were inspirations from "The Lucky One" Compose a Card: 5 challenge found at Hemidemisemiquaver.blogspot.com. I enjoy cooking so, these were a variation with some of the ingredients. I guess that you could consider these to be my "gourmet" cards from my pantry of stamping supplies.

Enjoy the Challenge: Play with Color

What a fun challenge from Becky Oehlers. The recipe for the card sketch is included here. The inspiration that Becky had reminded me of some vintage aprons and kitchen towels that my grandmother had. So, I ventured into the cards with a sense of nostalgia. I found the Aqua Mist and Poppy Red to be a challenge...so I played with several cards. This card is probably closest to the recipe. I kept the red and white as the only colors. My other cards have a touch of the Aqua Mist and the Poppy Red. I had fun with some of the Mary Engelbriet embellishments that captured fun and bright colors. Hope you enjoy and have a chance to play along.

Feel Better Blend

When someone doesn't feel well or has a cold, what could be better than a fresh cup of tea? Inspired by Origami, I created a box and gift enclosure from soothing colors from Papertrey Ink made the perfect way to package a special blend of tea and good wishes.

Time Flies!

Remember painting by number? This was a challenge to use specific colors in any creation. We have new neighbors and thought this would be clever to include when I take some fresh baked treats.

Challenges, Challenges!

Wow, what a week of challenges! I want to post and share the excitement with you. Stop by and see all of the wonderful new products and creations at Nichole Heady's blog http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/. I am including several that I have created to express my interpretation of the challenges. Sweet Violets is a crafter's challenge to create a card and sheet of embellishments to share with a crafting friend. I thought quilt squares would be fun.

Another Sketch Challenge

If any one has been following Nichole Heady's Blog this week you know that there have been great challenges. Papertrey Ink is sponsoring this card sketch 153 at CPS.

I have always been a fan of Mary Engelbreit. She has such quite and wise sayings that just warm your heart. This one, "Everyone Needs Their Own Spot", I made a metal rim tag and included her illustration with a magnet on the back so that the recipient can use it to hold memos. To me this saying is an encouragement for anyone who needs encouragement when they find themselves in a new office, home or job situation. I know and speak from personal experience. Enjoy!

Papertrey Birthday Celebrations

Who doesn't love a contest and challenge? Papertrey Ink has it all right now! I have enjoyed viewing Nichole Heady's Stamp Designers and Challenge at Papertrey Ink as they have kicked off the celebration for their third anniversary year. So much excitement, contests and prizes! I thought that I would share a couple of items that I have made. The Stamp Design Team has offered a downloadable image to use to create a birthday celebration card or project.
